Neem Karoli Baba — lovingly known as Maharaj-ji — was a 20th-century Hindu saint and mystic whose simplicity, unconditional love, and divine presence continue to inspire millions around the world. Though he left his physical body in 1973, his grace lives on through his devotees, his teachings, and the vibration of the divine name — Ram Ram.

🕉️ Early Life of Neem Karoli Baba

Neem Karoli Baba was born as Lakshman Narayan Sharma around 1900 in Akbarpur, Uttar Pradesh, into a Brahmin family. He married young and had children, but his inner calling led him to renounce worldly life.

He became a wandering sadhu and was later discovered living on a neem tree platform (karoli) in a village — hence the name Neem Karoli Baba.

Despite his renunciation, Maharaj-ji lived simply, often wearing a woolen blanket and staying silent for long periods.

✨ Core Teachings of Neem Karoli Baba

Neem Karoli Baba didn’t give long discourses or write scriptures. His life was the teaching. His core messages were:

2. Remember God’s Name: Ram Ram

He constantly chanted and encouraged others to chant “Ram Ram”, which he said was the most powerful mantra for purification and peace.
